Are you curious about setting up a Facebook group?
Facebook groups are a great way to bring like minded people together, in a setting that is similar to a forum, but the setup options can be confusing.
In this video I break down the settings for you so you can better understand what each option means. As a bonus you will also find out what types of groups I tend to avoid!
Using a Group is very similar to a forum that you would host yourself but there are definitely options that a each bring to the table. Here are just a few of the similarities and differences:
- Facebook Group and Forum ~ in both you can search all posts by a specific word or by a person to see what that individual posted
- Group ~ you cannot maintain chronological by original post date. If a post from 6 months ago is commented on it will be brought back to the top of the feed
- Group ~ you cannot segregate topics/categories. In Facebook Groups there is only 1 main wall so you can’t break out topics into categories as you can in a Forum
- Group~ people can simply LIKE the post, just giving that nod of acceptance/appreciation of a post without having to comment back
The benefit of creating a Group would be that your audience/customers are already on Facebook and it makes it easier for them to interact vs. having a Forum they would have to go to another website, another login, just to join in a conversation.
There are a lot of things you can do in Groups, although they are not for everyone, but I want to show you some of the features so that I am off to record another video!
Please comment below if you have any questions on Groups or if you found this helpful ~Eden
